I have a canon 30d. Can I use non EF-S lenses? I was told I could use them but the crop factor would be different because the other lens isn't EF-S. Can anyone help me with this issue? I'm looking at buying a 50mm 1.2 or 1.4/f lens.

Hi, Can someone help me with the following questions about the 1.6X "conversion" when using EF lenses in a DSLR body, like the 50D? 1. Is that true that "what you see (in the viewfinder) is not what you get (in the picture)"? 2. Does the image appear "uncropped" in the viewfinder...

So I am trying to decide between a new lens or starting a strobist set up. The lens would be the EF-S 10-22. And the strobist set up would be the basic set up that Sean has been suggesting lately: two lightstands, two umbrellas, two swivels, one additional flash, and a transmitter/receiver method. I...

I am looking for a portrait and nature prime lens to go on an XSi. I have it narrowed down to the 85 f/1.8 and the ef-s 60 2.8 macro...and why not throw in the 50 1.4 for discussion. Thanks for the thoughts...

I am looking to upgrade my kit lens and relegate it to backup duties. I think I have it narrowed down to the Canon 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM and the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR ZL Di LD Aspherical (IF). I mainly take pictures of kids/family and flowers/nature. One thing that I keep coming back to is the speed...

I've gone through two copies of this lens and they both have a little movement when attached to the camera body. I have a handful of other lenses lighter and heavier (e.g. 70-200 f/2.8 IS) and they don't have any movement at all. The movement seems to be vertical only, not a side to side thing...

Thanks so much for all the advice. I've kept it in consideration and I've made some headway although, I wouldn't say I'm quite there.... I've decided that since the lens I'll be purchasing is going to be used primarily for travel and walk-around, I'm best served buying a superzoom...
