Update
Was able to straighten the pin with a good tool, an LED light, a steady hand, and a magnifier.
All in working order.
Suspect the pin is weakened and will still send back to Canon for...
I have never had any trouble with any of my Canon cameras in the last 15+ years with the contact pins, or any other malfunction.
They have never given me any trouble, and I only transition for...

From what I understand on the 5D3 single point metering only follows the central focus point.
I believe some of the 1Dx models allow the metering to follow other focus points.
Thank you
That is very logical.
Thank you.
I would like to investigate this whole topic in more detail.
Do you have any references or real life studies?
Thank you
When using a Canon 5d3 and an 680EXRT in a TTL mode and a lens that is capable of evaluating subject distance (which results in a flash compensation for subject distance)
Is the focus point the...
I have the Lee Holder System for the Big Stopper (10 stops)
But I still need step up rings for smaller lenses to adapt it.
Is there some other system that I have not investigated?
I am looking for a set of brass step up rings.

Does anyone have experience with this lens maker?
They have some pretty fast primes lenses.
I would expect them to be somewhat soft, and with that thin of a DOF, the manual focus may need a...
i have used B&H and Adorama for years but I have an item listed as new at 42nd street photo that is listed too good to be true.
Has anyone had good or bad experience with them?

Sorry about the confusing butI think the question has evolved.
So to restate the question.
Do you use IS much on a macro.
What I have taken away is:
Movement like panning may have an affect....
To further clarify the question.
Early IS lenses did not perform well on tripods.
This included:
EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
Since I turn off my IS when using a tripod.
And if I will be using a tripod for most of my macro work.
Does it make sense to buy a macro lens with IS, except for handheld work?
thank you

The Canon EOS E-TTL II Flash System
With the announcement of "E-TTL II".
There is a new flash algorithm, similar to the existing E-TTL, but designed to give...
Since I have always used Manual settings for my flashes I have never thought much about TTL.
My thought process is if I use a single focus point on my subject and the meter uses the entire scene...
I read your post on the coffee bean photo.
I noticed you used a 24mm 1.4.
I often use the canon version especially in low light churches for weddings.
I also like the increased depth of focus...

So lets say we measure the light temp, and set our white balance appropriately.
How would you modify your flash to keep a balance,
If you are going to use gels, then can we...
I have been interested in finding technology that is able to read color temp much like a light meter.
With the recent release of the Sekonic C-700 SpectroMeter my curiosity has been peaked.
