In my experience, canon factory service has been very reasonable if you give them an argument :) Be polite, but inquire a lot, and be ready to point out things that would seem like they should be...

I use them just so I won't waste my time worrying about whether that little spec of dust is a scratch, and then in an effort to remove it without my blower or brush, smear the junk all over and make...

Of them both, I prefer the 24-70, for entirely subjective reasons. I like the background blur, that's pretty much the only difference between them that's important to me. It does seem that the...

Yes, I do agree that aside from the focus shift (see I pay attention sometimes and learn, for awhile at least) issue, the 50 1.2L is a better lens, but, for me, having to second guess and compensate...

I had a 135mm lens that had an autofocus issue. Back focus. Sent it to Canon with my body, they calibrated the lens to my body (because my other lenses worked fine), and it came back behaving...

I did a friend's wedding, and the 24-70 was a great choice, particularly with the flash umbrellas, but if you want a prime, I think the suggestion to figure it out with your zoom is a fantastic one. ...

Re: Which Lens Package would you prefer?

I agree... I asked them about that, a long time ago.... They pointed me to the 100-400 zom or a 400 mm DO, both of which have IS.

Regarding the 85 f1.2L, I miss mine. It was big, clunky, focused...

  11. Re: Picture Style sharpness vs DPP post-treatment ??

I always shoot raw, and set the sharpness for the Raw unfurling usually 1-2. It's rare to need to go higher than 3, after which it starts emphasizing the pixel structure, regardless of the noise...

Re: 85mm f1.2 real life experience

I love this lens, but for me, it isn't that versatile by itself. It's a great prime to have with another camera with another focal length, but it's long enough that things can be simply too close, or...
  13. Re: Indoor Sports Lens......What would you do with $1K????

I'd try to figure out the shortest focal length you're going to need where you're shooting. You can always crop, you can't do the opposite.

I love the 135 f2, but I also use it on full frame...

I usually only apply any noise reduction if I actually notice it being problematic.

For reasons previously stated, I like it best.

I'd still play with it in post processing, but it's a good capture.

This was the only picture I could see.... But....

It looks a little blurry. I don't know if this is filtering or focus, or just that the shutter speed is way too long. I'd suggest upping the ISO...

    Re: 24-105 on 1.6x crop

I had used my 24-105 on a Rebel XT for awhile. I was happy with it. It didn't go very wide, but I had a separate wide angle zoom... Before that I had a 28-135mm, and I'd have problems with group...
  21. Re: If you were me, which lens would you buy? (24-105 vs. 70-200 f/4 IS)

well, if you keep the zoom you've already got, I'd get a 70-200mm first, in which case you've got a greater range with which to play with. On a 1.6 crop, 200mm is a decent amount of reach. a 24-105,...

Re: taking the FF plunge! Lens decisions?

The 'crop factor' applies to aperture in terms of effective depth of field, but not light-gathering ability - in other words, you'll have the same exposure settings at f/4 on full frame and a 1.6x...

Re: taking the FF plunge! Lens decisions?

The full frame automatically gets you more than a stop. 1.6x applies to the effective equivalent aperture.... So f/4 on full frame is 'faster' in effect, than f/2.8 on a crop sensor.

    But,...
