It's been a long long time since I've posted. I'm in Costa Rica right now using my brand new Tamron 150-600, and I couldn't be happier with it. I can't believe the quality for the price. Here are...

If the initial reviews are like Dustin's, I'm in for this lens. I've been trying to get to 600mm for a reasonable price for a long time.

Thanks Brant and Mark. The sunset shots were taken from a sailboat. I couldn't believe the other sailboat happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Took the kids to the demolition derby at the Sheboygan County Fair today. Caught a few good shots with the 6D and the EF 24-105L. I was able to get pretty close, which was nice. Click the photo to...

    LARGE format printing.

+1. I've never printed anything mural sized, but I use them for anything that hangs on a wall. Great shop.

    70-200 f4 ?

+1. I loved my 70-200 f/4 L IS and sold it only to get the extra reach of the 70-300L. Here's a shot with my old Canon XS and the 70-200 f/4 IS. It was a MAJOR upgrade from the EF-S 55-250 that it...

    70-200 f4 ?

This is always a challenge. The smaller percentage of your frame that your subjects accounts for, the harder it is to get it sharp - especially with entry level lenses.

    70-200 f4 ?

The rule of thumb without IS is 1.6x the focal length for a minimum shutter speed on a crop body. It's just a rule of thumb though. Some people have surgeons hands and still subjects and can pull off...

Stay with the 7D or Upgrade?

It is indeed amazing. The new FF technology is startlingly good.

There's not much PP on either of those shots, but what I did was important. First, the WB was all wrong (typical orange color...

    70-200 f4 ?

+1 to this point. Insufficient shutter speed dooms many shots, especially if you have shaky hands. Think about all those iPhone/smart phone shots people try to take in lower light conditions. They're...

    70-200 f4 ?

Yes, it's your money on the line. But if you have some trust in the good folks of a forum (such as this one), the collective advice of people can be an important data point for a decision. On a...

I sell everything on amazon for this reason. It's a flat 8% commission for photography gear and much easier to list an item.

I don't have a point of comparison because I have never owned the 24-70. But I do have the 24-105 and have used it on the 7D and 6D.

Although you only gain one stop, you could also get the 40mm pancake. It's tiny, inexpensive, and pretty darn good. I used it for indoor pub shots on my 6D in Ireland, and it did a pretty good job....
