hello all i own one canon 40D and i was planning to buy the 100-400mm IS lens but one friend of mine told me that it might not work well together.he said that this type of lens (big ones) works at it's full potential on higher quality bodies like 1D or similar ones. can anyone tell me if this is true? can the small battery from my 40 D be to weak

thank you for your comments, i did not use any filters but i was using lightroom to edit some of them, especially the ones with the sky.i know is not the real colour but the pictures have more kick this way. thank you qatarezu

i have one more question regarding this subject... what can i do if i want to take a 5-6 hours shot? i just bought one grip but i don't think my batteries will last that long.any ac-adapter to work with my 40D? any ideeas? thank you
