• The new tool Lens Specifications and Measurements

Hi Bryan, At last someone 'rebuilds' the good old 'EF Lenses Home' from the Canon site, long ago replaced with the visually more attractive but with dumbed down information lens pages we have now. Thanks a million for this feature. If available, it would be nice to include the parfocality of the lenses (Parfocal Yes/No :) ) Of some older

  • Missing/defective link in NEWS section

Hi Bryan, In the news of Saturday, May 2, 2009 you posted a link to the Tamron lens rebates: New Tamron Lens Rebates are available. ...the link has gone sour... ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home

  • Re: Reguarding the Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 and Canon Speedlite 430EX...

Hi Jarhead5811, Yes, you can use the ST-E2 as a focus assist device without attaching/linking any flashes to it, if your 430ex allows to be set in a 'flash-off' mode then you can use the 430ex for this too. (not sure about this option in 430ex, I know it is present in my 580exII :) ) If that mode is not present, you can AF with flash(assist

  • Re: Canon 430EX II Speedlite Flash Review
I have been an available light shooter forever, and I struggle to understand the mechanics of strobism. (That is the term, right?) Not the concepts - I understand how light works - but the methods. I need a brief primer on how to use the darn thing. I own this flash and I have struggled to get even the most basic

  • Re: Canon 430EX II Speedlite Flash Review

Quote from the review: On the front, each of these flashes (and the flash transmitter) has a red window - this is the source of the AF assist light. A light from this window will intermittently flash while setup in slave/remote mode. The darker window on the 430EX II and 580EX II is the remove/slave receiver. Do not block this area when using the flash

  • Re: Sold your 70-200mm f/4L and bought a 70-300mm IS (non-DO)?
So, is there anyway to calibrate this lens or is it a lemon?
you have to send it in to Canon Services, they can calibrate it for you. ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home

  • Re: I Want To Buy 2 Lenses, 1 can be an "L"
So today I got to finally use my new toy with a borrowed lens. It is a 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. After shooting a few yard, pet and walkabout pictures I was comfortable with the use of the lens. However with my past expeience with film SLRs I knew this isn't a lense I would buy. I viewed the photos on my laptop and

  • Re: Buying decisions: 70-200 4 IS or 2.8 non IS AND 17-40 or 10-22?
I am looking to expand on my lens collection, which at the moment consists solely of a 50mm 1.8 mkII (which is an awesome lens, btw). I'd like a lens for mostly for street portraits as well as a little sports and movement action. The 70-200 focal length suits me well, but I can't decide between the f4 with

  • Re: Looking for my first 'L' series
This is where it's very difficult for me to take a decision. I have a Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro, so I'm equipped to do portraits.
...more 'tight headshots' than portraits IMO: 100mm is rather long on a 1.6x cropped body, you will need a large 'studio'...
Sold your 70-200mm f/4L and bought a 70-300mm IS (non-DO)? Good decision or bad? Tell of your experience and findings.
quite the other way around: I went from 100-300USM to (the old) 75-300IS USM to 70-200F4L USM (+1.4x II) to 70-200F2.8L IS USM (+1.4x II) + 100-400F4.5-F5.6L IS USM IMO: good decision if you
