  • Re: Need help deciding whether to buy a new camera body or a good lens??

As a general rule, getting quality glass is always the better decision. Do you find yourself always wishing you had more reach in many of your shots? Do you want to be able to shoot some sports or nature shots from a distance? Then the 70-200 is a good choice for you and will certainly give you more reach. As others have mentioned, good glass really

  • Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!

Great capture Nate! I always have to wait until the fall or spring to get active lion shots, since they are so lazy during the hot summer months in the Northeast! You always apply just the right amount of sharpening to your photos, razor sharp but never oversharpened...

  • Re: Web Hosting

Try printroom.com as well. They have 3 levels of membership (with the most basic HTML web hosting being free) and they will handle all the payment and printing for you (minus 16% of total cost) and send you a check... As far as it being profitable...you'll have to take some great pics!

  • Re: The "Wow" Factor

Really nice pic alexniedra, I concur that it works great as a B&W image. Were you using a fish-eye or something like the 10-22? It is satisfying when you get nice responses from family and friends on your photography. Sometimes you know when you've got a really nice shot, and expect people to react to it, but then it's always funny when

Brent, Overall, some really nice images, I second Sean's opinion on two of his points. The second image is well composed but could use some lightening up in the shadow areas. I personally think the subjects look pretty sharp and there is decent bokeh in the background. The third image is also my favorite. Were you using a gold reflector to light

  • Re: In boston with 40D and nifty-fifty

Sorry, I was just curious if I've met you before at Lawrence General Hospital a few years back that's all... I have actually shot along the Merrimack River before at sunset and the clock tower there, along with the outlines of the mill bldgs are pretty interesting, but other than that, Lawrence is a tough sell for a shooting location as you

Bill, those are some great suggestions for Mark but I think he would run out of time after going over to the Charles River! The Swan boats, which are a highlight of the Public Garden, are generally open from 10am-4 or 5pm (Always nice to incorporate them with shots of the public garden) Mark, if you are going to be in town for a couple of days then

  • Re: Carrying camera in big city

I really wouldn't sweat bringing in the 70-200 f4, especially if you have it in a backpack or toploading holster, security will most likely ask you to open up the backpack, see the camera, which really isn't big, and that will be the end of it. Like I said before, I've brought my 20D w/batt grip in a toploader with the 24-105 attached and

I think D-SLR's have become such common place these days that you really shouldn't have any problems (unless your walking around with a 400 2.8 as alexandria said!) I've walked around Boston and have been to Fenway Park on numerous occasions with my 20D and 100-400 without any problems. Just be aware of your surroundings and the people around
