• Re: Why are the autofocus sensors clustered around the middle of the frame?

I will try using live-view to achieve accurate manual focus, and exactly where I want it...
I think you'll be amazed by how much more accurate your focus is with 10X live view than any other method (autofocus, OVF, anything). The problem, right now, is the handheld

  • Re: Canon 17-55mm vs 24-70mm

Although I haven't made the purchase yet, I too have chosen the 24-70. This does not mean that I would necessarily recommend it for everyone, however I can share how I arrived at the conclusion: On several occasions when I used my 18-55 kit-lens I consciously limited myself to the 24+ zoom range. Although I'm on a crop camera, this never was
After reading this post and hearing all of the Nikon talk, I thought I'd share my Canon v Nikon customer service experiences. [...]
Well, then you were lucky. When I went too near a waterfall with my still-in-warranty G1, I had to pay nearly half it's price for the repair (it started to act erratically

  • Re: ISO noise rebel series vs d series
There is not much difference. Sometimes the Rebel series has slightly less noise. The 7D, on the other hand, has quite a significant improvement.
Could you point me/us to an example where this is visible? I'm asking because I have been looking at the images on Bryan's 7D review page here, in
I think you are asking why are there not strobes or flashes with built in receivers?
Sorry, perhaps my post was a little chaotic... Primary question: Why no multi-channel radio-remotes that allow per-channel remote manual settings of flash power. Secondary question: Why not the above radio-receiver integrated into

  • Re: coffee

Not weather sealed? You mean the coffee will leak out the bottom? That'd be quite a fail ;-) PS: An EF-S, yes, who would donate an L to such purpose?

  • Re: Why are the autofocus sensors clustered around the middle of the frame?

Thanks for the elaborate answer! And seeing that my shots at f/1.8 (the largest that I currently have) are often not on focus, presumably because focus-and-recompose just doesn't work with a very shallow DOF, I will try using live-view to achieve accurate manual focus, and exactly where I want it...
