Great shots of Bella, David! Still no snow here in SE Wisconsin and today was like springtime! All is going to change soon enough I hear!
I got my 40mm pancake lens today! I really like this cute little thing!

Great shots David.
Whos, love that shot of Buddy Denise, that look is priceless and the focus and DOF is sweet.

Thank you, Steve! I quickly took a few shots and didn't really check if any adjusting is needed but so far I don't think it does.
Thanks Steve and Denise. I like the buddy shot Denise ("Please don't take my ball... please don't take my ball... ")
How is the 40mm? At first I thought about getting one since they're cheap, but then I figured I already have the 50mm. The 50mm is working just fine for us, and it's nearly the same length as the 40mm, and the 40mm is not as fast. So my second thought was what's the point in picking up a 40mm, even for cheap?
I know you weren't terribly happy with your copy of the 50mm. You've had the 50mm, and now the 40mm. Ignoring sharpness, just considering field of view, is there enough difference to make it worthwhile to own both?
Thanks, David! IMO, no reason to have both the 40mm and the 50mm. I wouldn't have bought it new since I didn't really need it at the moment. I still have 50mm covered in two zoom lenses but when I saw it listed LNIB for a super cheap price, I snatched it up. I think it's a great little lens and if I end up with only a couple inexpensive lenses in the end, at least I will be able to keep shooting to some extent!
I've never used the 40, but it appear to be a perfect pocket lens.
