View Full Version : Powershot G10: Why do orange colors come out yellow?

I recently bought the G10. When I took pictures of an orange lily and also a fish that was orange and black, the monitor showed the orange to be yellow. When I downloaded to my computer the orange was yellow also. Is this a G10 problem or do Canons have trouble with the color orange? Is there anything I can do?

I would first consider calibrating your monitor. What type of monitor are you using? It could be that your monitor isn't displaying colours as accurately as it could be.

Check out the following thread on monitor calibration:

This may not be the problem, it could have been your white balance or something else. I would consult an owner of a G10.

Hope you can find a solution, though[:)]

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post. When I point my camera at the orange flower, the camera's monitor shows it to be yellow as well as on my computer.

Shoot in neutral, faithful, or raw.

Make sure the histogram of your image isn't clipping the red channel too.

That's all I can think about. I've never had probems with an orange looking like an orange...

Now, florescentitems having florescent pop, that's way trickier...

Okay...

Are you using Colour Swap mode? Does that "swap" colours like that?

Just a guess...

I have a G10 - sounds like a classic white balance issue. AWB is okay most of the time, but I prefer to use a white balance disc and the custom white balance setting.

No, I'm not using colorswap.
