Polycarbonate is also knows as a "technopolymer", that is something that has the quality to substitute other materials in their duties.
It's also used in Blue-ray disc, where a precision in the micro-shape of the structure is fundamental and morcycle helmets and special glass, where strenght and resistance to knocks is the main thing. It's used in glasses' lenses as well.
It's definitely a material with excellent qualities..
Still I remember you that this lens is not wheather sealed.
Just be careful, this substance is deformable even at low temperature if it's under big pressure (in this it's different from glass and metals) and is quite weak towards scratches, but I don't think you're going to use it as a toy for your cat.
As a chimist, I just want to defend Polycarbonates from people that is underrating this lens because of his build quality.
