This past weekend I rented the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM lens for my wife to shoot at a sporting event (she's now pretty sure she wants to buy the 300mm and not the 400mm). Before I returned it, I decided I'd have some fun with it. Shot this on the way into the office this morning with my Rebel XSi. This TV tower is about 1.5 km (1 mile) away from where I was standing. The sky was pretty hazy due to smoke from forest fires west of here. Shot hand held, f/4, 1/2500 sec., ISO 200.Not a spectacular photograph, but I was pretty impressed by how sharp this image was (IMO) considering. From where I was standing the top half of the tower appeared solid (although I knew it wasn't).
