Well my 24-70 f/2.8L came today late enough to not allow me to go out with it so I decided to search for something in the house to test out this new beast. All I can say is WOW, going from the stock 18-55 lens I had this thing is one heck of an improvement. Here's a Black and White of my one violin and bow.

Camera: Xti

Lens 24-70 f/2.8L

Apperature: 2.8

Shutter Speed: .8

ISO: 100

As you can see I need to get used to the super small DOF (its a little off from the gold fine tubing knob probably cause I was just doing this real quick) Aside from that, I'm really happy with this one . Any suggestions, critiques, and what not are welcome.

yeah I know what you mean, needless to say I'm eating raman and not doing anything that costs money until this summer's up. Oh well, I'll have my lens for Russia this summer at least

It's a great picture. I like it a lot, really. I would love to take just one picture of something like that, just with a guitar as subject =)

Great shot.

Tripod and switch This was hard to setup since I had the tripod half on a set of stairs (I wasn't sure the second floor would hold me) At 100% this one is so sharp you can see the stiching in the bra I was astounded by how clear it was.

8/10 sec and 3/10 sec shutter speed? I didn't know that these increments were possible. Does it change if you set it to 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments? Maybe I am confused, can someone help me out? I have this camera and I thought that "8" meant "1/8."

I like this shot a lot, by the way. It makes me think that it would be fun to have a thread of guess what this is pictures. I like the idea of shallow depth of field with a guitar too!
