CC welcome! Just saw this guy as I was getting ready to leave because nothing much was happening. Not many birds that day at San Joaquin Wildlife Refuge.

For the second shot, do any of you think that gradient on the background is too much?

The second shot is my favorite, but the gradient seems a little too much.

Show us the original (without the gradient) so we can tell which one is better.

Here you go. It does not seem as sharp as the other one, but I guess that is not the important thing right now anyways. It seems that people only say it's too much once somebody else suggest it. I am wondering if it is the power of suggestion. I feel that it lacks without the gradient. I was imitating a graduated neutral density filter, but those go from top down, not bottom up too.
