T1i Refuses to shoot.

I'm stuck.


I'm wondering if someone can tell me why my new T1i refuses to shoot in Manual Mode and with MF? I've tried all 4 metering modes and quite simply if it's too dark (I think - I'm just guessing here), it refuses to shoot. The camera is mounted on a tripod and the exposures are about 4 seconds. The Focus confirmation light blinks continuously but I figure since I'm in MF this shouldn't be a problem, right?





Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Firstly; do you have a memory card in the camera? If so, then is the self-timer or mirror lock-up on?
