Hi guys,

A friend is asking whether anyone has heard of / used Smith Victor tripods? Adorama seems to have a carbon-fiber one for $200:

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I've seen them on B&H before but from the small picture there they seem a bit cheap to me.

For $209 you can buy a Feisol (carbon fiber) and to me it seem a better option since some guys here already own a Feisol tripod and they seem to be happy with it.

Oren,

Which Feisol tripod do you have? Do you find the twist locks slower to use?

I've been considering one of the Traveler models.

I own the FEISOL CT-3342 and think it's great. I don't find the twist locks any more difficult to use than flip locks. It's also light as a feather!

shutr - I still don't have a tripod [:(]

When I get one, there is a good chance it'd be a Feisol.

I have a bunch of Smith-Victor light stands. They are inexpensive andsimple. They don't look like they would stand up to a lot of abuse, but they work fine for portable studio lighting.

I suspect the tripods are of similiar construction.
