I'm thinking about, no, I going to buy a new tripod and considering theGitzo GT2531. I read the review about theGitzo GT2530 and not sure if the GT2531 is the right choice. Here's what I own and use, all canon [:)]: 5DMII, 17-40 mm; 24-70 mm f2.8 L; 70-200 mm f2.8IS L; andCanon EF 400mm f/5.6 L also will be using really right stuff BH-40 ball head. So my question is this tripod good enough for the gear I have or ? I know my 400 mm weights less than my 70-200 mm IS f2.8 so should I worry about vibrations when using the 400 or concentrate about weight limits of the tripod?

Thanks everyone for your opinions.

As far as ability to support your kit goes, the GT2531 is more than enough. Just remember, poor tripod technique can make best tripods look bad.

Folded length of the GT2531is65cm. Remember, once you install the ballhead, the total length will increase to 75-80cm (about 30-32") and this is the dimension you will have to carry around with you. It does not bother some but it can be a big deal to others. You may wanna look into 4 sectionequivalents. I personally find themless awkward to carry and more difficult to break.

Good luck

GT2541 is a 4 section equivalent tripod, folded length is 56cm, all other specs arevirtually same. It costs 50 more bucks, though.

Thanks for the replies. I know about the total length but if I remove the center column when traveling it will cut down the size.
