I'd suggest buying the Maxsaver Flexible Tripod ("http://maxsaver.net/Flexible-Gripping-Large-Tripod.aspx) for around $10. It advertises a max weight of 3000 grams which is roughly 105 oz (or over 6 1/2 lbs).
