Canon 50D + 17-40 f4 L @ 40mm f4 1/60 ISO-400 580EX II bounced of 20ft ceiling.

The background was pretty busy in these, so I got rid of it in post. It looked kind of weird with white background, so I decided black was best. This was only my 3rd wedding as a photog. I would like to know how I can improve. Thanks in advance.

Very nice shots Dave. I like that you made them black and white, my favorite is the second one.

I also like that fact that you darkened the background, I personally would of blended/faded the black onto the floor more so it looked as if they were being illuminated by a spot light of sorts, to me it currently looks as though they are on a stage with a black background.

One last thing it may just be the monitor Im looking at but I would of brightened the highlights alittle bit more, but thats just personal taste.

Great shots nonetheless.

1st one is a nice view, but I think you have too much of the ceiling in there, maybe crop it a bit?

And agreed on the little dark on some points..

These are awesome! I agree with the above posts, except that on my monitor the highlights appear ok...maybe my monitor is too bright. That being said a crop near their heads on the first one seems to work, that is all this little netbook shows on the screen at one time, which is where I got the idea.

Thanks for your comments all. Now that I look back at it, that second one does seem a bit dark... I will try lighting it up a bit.

Originally, in the first shot there was a very large chandelier on the ceiling I tried to get into the picture... but at that focal length it looked distorted, and the flash bounce from the ceiling made the exposure on it look weird. I will try the crop out and see how it looks.

Thanks again.
