These are some great shots Rodger! I did miss them the first time thanks for reposting them, this was the first time I'd been snowboarding since I got into photography so it was pretty exciting for me, thankfully there was another guy there giving me some tips, I look forward to the challenge of doing it at night!

My biggest struggle at night was obtaining that background separation with the backlighting. It seemed the only way to do it was place the strobe directly behind the subject, which results with the strobe being in the frame (or hidden behind the subject). I'll have to dissect some Transworld Snow photos during math class tomorrow and try again the next night! haha.

I feel ya. I justtt got on my board tonight actually after deciding that a "backyard terrain park" was not good for photos.

This one is from a few weeks ago. Pittsburgh has been going through a warm spell :( just this past week we got a few inches. Time to head out and shoot some new shots soon!

Thoughts are welcome!

Hey Rodger,

Your winter sports shots are wonderful [:D]

Those people in the pictures are your friends?

Thanks so much Oren!

Yep! I'm lucky to have some friends that are pretty good at snowboarding.

Haha I couldn't keep my own riding up to speed with them, so I moved on to photos!
