Disposable Lens Hood

I'm really not much of a do-it-yourselfer, as I'd much rather just buy a cheap third-party lens hood. However, if you're short on cash, try this site ("http://www.lenshoods.co.uk/) for templates that you can print & cut out for a disposable lens hood. They have a template for just about every lens imaginable.

I've seen that site before too, though I've never actually tried it. There's also this site ("http://www.lenshoods.net/), with hoods designed for APS sensors.
