I'm bouncing off the walls here. Been running around shooting away for about a half hour.Compared to my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Tamron-17-50mm-f-2.8-XR-Di-II-Lens-Review.aspx]<span style="color: #3366cc;)this think is silent. Compared to my13 year old Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM...OK, well there is no real comparison there.I'll just say that the next time that old POS gets mounted it will be on someone else's camera.

Of course I would have liked to have IS but after a lengthycost/benefit analysis I determined thata non-IS today beats the heck out ofan IS at some indefinite point inthe all toodistant future.

Pics to come...

Awesome! I just got this lens last week (IS version though), and sometimes I take it out just to look at it. lol It's so gorgeous.

Of course, I got it right before I had to go to work, on a 70 degree sunny day (I'm in Maine, so for this time of year, it was shorts and tee shirt weather) And since then every nice day I've worked, and every day off has been raining and cold.....how ticked am I?!

It focuses so fast, accurate, and quiet it just exudes quality.Anyway, glad to hear! I know how happy you are!

I've got some decent shots but hate to interupt my upload to Mozy (40 gigs so far 140 to go) to upload them to Flickr. I guess I'll do that after I get a shower.

ME TOO!!!

ME THREE!!

For the first few weeks of owning my 70-200 2.8 L IS, I would just take it out of the bag and hold it for a minute or two. Then I would read the instruction manual, checking out all of the "features" that I apparently didn't discover. To my dissapointment, no suprise features were discovered in the instruction manual. [:(]

Enjoy the glass, and don't forget to take some pictures with it!

Haha I'm south of you in Pittsburgh, PA and I can vouch for that. I've worn flip flops every day rain or shine in protest of the returning cold weather.

Congrats on the new lens!!!! I can't wait to see some photos!
