I was testing out my new tripod last night and I noticed when the IS was on I got really blurry pictures. I tried both IS modes, but only got steady shots with the IS off. I read on this site that the lens is tripod sensing, could something be broken?

No, there is no tripod sensing -- AFAIK.

But as a rule of thumb, when you put IS lens on a tripod, you should turn the IS off. It's because even the slightest IS detection/movement will create some sort of vibration that is defeating the purpose of using the tripod.

It's odd though. Even with IS on and sitting on tripod, you shouldn't have got *really* blurry images. Maybe you can post some example images for us to justify?
