The shots that were taken with the canon ef-s 18-55 IS review show remarkable blur, and I am curious if the IS system of that particular lens was disabled. The review mentions a tripod was used, so the IS should have been disabled... just want to confirm?

I always turn IS off when using IS lenses on a tripod - unless they are the super telephoto lenses which have a secondary tripod mode. My 18-55 IS is not very sharp at the long end.

I confirm the same -over 35mm- "blur" on mines vs 17-55 or either the 50/1.8.
