I ran into a photographer at an event today that had a relatively compact bracket for his flash that positioned it on the side of his camera. It didn't have a grip. It was kind of like an L bracket. I tried approaching him to ask him about the bracket but he wasn't really friendly and always bolted when I approached him. I guess he saw me as competition LOL. I searched online but couldn't find anything similar to what he had. Most of the brackets I found seemed bulky and position the flash overhead. Anyone out there know the flash bracket I'm trying to find?

Sounds like it could be the Custom Brackets CB Mini ("http://www.custombrackets.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=119). They make a similar one for cameras with grips (the CB Mini RC ("http://www.custombrackets.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=139)).

Awesome thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for. Do you know if I would be able to attach my r-strap to it?

Yes - there's a1/4” x 20 tripod mount on the bottom of the bracket.
