My wife and I went to Tofino, British Columbia to enjoy some quiet time on the Wet Coast. A few shots from the week:

Canon 5D2, 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens, Singh-Ray Vari-ND Duo filter, 30 sec @ f/16, ISO 100
(Post processing: Altered the white balance to give the orange glow)

Jonathon, I must say, bravo on the first one. Great shot. I just keep staring at it...

So here are my Super Bowl pictures. I was at a friends house where 7 adults and these two kids crammed into a tiny livingroom to watch the game. That's OK, I got some pictures, so I was happy. I used a 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II USM @ f/4 on my XTi 1/100 ISO 100 with a Sigma 530 DG Super mounted on the camera (sorry Sean, no room to set up a light stand, and I wasn't sure I was going to shoot so I didn't bring it) and bounced off of the ceiling and wall behind me.

This had about 1/3 of the side cropped off (away from the eyes) and a little off the top.

I blew this one a little in pp to try and make the eyes stand out. Any suggestions/comments on doing this better?

JH, your shot of BC with the orange toned sky is awesome!

We usually don't get colorful skies here in Northern California, but last Saturday much of the region was treated to a sky that just burst into color. This is the little lake in the middle of our town taken with a 7D,<span style="font-size: 10px;"]EFS 10-22mm @ 10 mm,<span style="font-size: 10px;"]f/ 22, 1/2 sec, ISO 100.

It's been one year since I've gotten my first DSLR and thanks to sites like this and others, I've learned quite a bit about taking photos, so thanks to all for contributing. Here is what I've learned to do with my camera in this short year. These two photos are of the same tree; the only difference is that this old Oak is one year older in the 2nd shot.

Great pictures, especially the ones with the water! Now ... since there still wasn't any snow here, I went to the closest white-capped mountain on February 5, here are some of the results:

This should be Mt. Tezio as seen from Mt. Subasio, Umbria, Italy.
5D2, 70-200 f/4 IS, ISO 100, f/8, 200mm, 1/400, perhaps CPL.

/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x0/__key/CommunityServer-Discussions-Components-Files/15/2845.IMG_5F00_8260.jpg

Some guy that happened to be on the same mountain.
5D2, 70-200 f/4 IS, ISO 100, f/8, 138mm, 1/640, perhaps CPL.

/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x0/__key/CommunityServer-Discussions-Components-Files/15/0083.IMG_5F00_8261.jpg

Snow! At least a bit, couldn't point the camera further down without including a lot of brown-green...
5D2,70-200 f/4 IS, ISO 100, f/8, 200mm, 1/25, perhaps CPL.

/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x0/__key/CommunityServer-Discussions-Components-Files/15/7367.IMG_5F00_8288.jpg

And finally the work of some family that was leaving just as we arrived for the sunset...

Colin 500, those two images of the Italian mountaintop are cool; the haze adds great depth to them. The man adds some sense of scale too.

For some reason, my earlier post looked great on my screen, but dull on this site. i think I figured out how match the images now. This is taken with the EFS 10-22 lens at 22 mm instead of 10 mm, all other settings are the same. Take care, erno.

Nice shots everyone.

I took my dog out for a few shots near the water. He works cheap and does not complain about any of the poses.

And a little subtle, almost delicate HDR landscape to finish off with.

All taken with my favourite portrait and landscape lens the Canon 100mm IS Macro. Well favourite for that day anyway.

Thanks for viewing.

Many great photos posted so far! Nothing as nice as the above posts going on here this week but I did get out and shoot some before the deep freeze moved in! I am suffering from cabin fever big time!

First 4 shots where drive-by shootings at 65 mph but with how things have been going, I'll take what I can get (and no, I wasn't the driver)!

And last but not least ...a rescue of a poor dog that jumped into a snow pile and underestimated how deep it was ...
