After a very very exiting assignment 17 ("/image_presentation1/f/26/t/5557.aspx), Colin already came up with assignment 18!

<span style="font-size: x-large;"]Assignment 18: Shapes and Geometries

Colin's description: "Shapes and Geometries", which as usual should be interpreted as freely
as possible and include anything natural or artificial that can
conceivably (but comfortably) fit that title.

And the 3 favorites are(random order):

HDNitehawk

Motivation:Interesting mixed shapes, and colours.

Ddt0725

Motivation: Nice clear geometry. <span>I really like the gradients as well. The colors have a really nice feel to it. Also, I love how simplistic this photo is.

Erno James

Motivation: <span><span>I'm a sucker for night time photography and this one
definitely has geometries that are pleasing to the eye. That bridge is
just plain cool and overall the composition is really good.

Thanks, Bob! I decided to get somewhat creative! It is a photo of my speedlight flash grid. In the background is a floral metal art piece that I have hanging on my wall. What you see through the holes of the grid is the vase.

As usual, some very interesting entries. I was going to submit some water drops, but Todd beat me to it so I had a look round my kitchen and decided to try a shot of the filter from my cafetière using a tilt & shift lens to focus on the filter mesh only.

Being a newbie here at the forum (although a long time TDP reader), maybe I should warm up with some other posts before entering the assignment thread. But on the other hand - why not?

I tried some water drop shooting yesterday and caught a few (in my opinion) cool shapes. Most of them are of the typical "standing" type, but none of them is worth posting in the same thread as Todd's - really beautiful. Instead, I kind of got hung up on another shape that I've chosen to post. Let's call it the Crown.

EDIT: I had wanted to go to a boulder field located about 30 minutes from my house. But I didn't get the opportunity today. But I did take this, which I would now like to have considered as my entry:

I took a few shots this weekend and had this topic in mind, but I haven't had a chance to upload to my computer to have a look yet. Maybe I'll post another one later (But I'll stick with this one for my submission since today is the deadline [;)])

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay, I was travelling, and didn't have any real possibility to set up access to "here", but I'm back and Rocco, Jan and myself have sorted everything out (well, mostly them while I was away), so voting should be able to start soon (and then a new assignment!).

What is that? [:D] I assume it's the front of a car, but which one? The headlights and frontfender make me think it's an old VW Beetle, but never seen that grill..

HiFiGuy1
03-20-2011, 09:01 PM
I am not an expert on older cars, so I don't know which make and model it is, but it is a hot rod based on a car that was made in 1937. If it is appropriate to post a pic here, I have more shots of the car, and someone may be able to identify it for us.

It is sort of funny that you identify that grill with a Beetle, since they never had that grill, though many were modified to resemble pre-war American cars like the one I posted. Ironic, isn't it?

No, I don't identify it with the grill. The grill was the part I don't get. The headlights look like Porsche/VW and the front-fender looks exactly like the fender on the Beetle of my mother in law [;)]

So I'm guessing it's either VW or Porsche.

I'm interested to see the rest of the car[A]

Nope, you're right. I was so interested that I started googling like crazy. It's a 1937 Ford...

In your first photo the headlights looked more round I must say, therfor my Porsche/VW guess... But I was so wrong!

No, the car is in fact a 1937 Ford. We have already established that it is Krispy Kreme's, I think. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif The car is a 1937 Ford Panel Delivery, either Model 74 or Model 78, depending on whether it had the 60 hp, 136 cu. in. V-8 or the 85 hp, 221 cu. in. V-8. I'll ask the guy who owns it next time I see him.
