Rotating the Horizon Line

Is it ever really a good idea to do so? Or should the horizon stay level, but in only a few exception? If so, when are those exceptions?


Only reason I ask is because I was taking some shots of mountain bikers doing some trial runs and I did not even think about the horizon line. The shots were okay to good except for the horizon line, which I noticed later once I got them onto the computer.

I think its okay. You can add some real drama to your shots. It can be overdone though.


One of the great things about the big pixel count sensors is you have some cropping room to play with that stuff in post.

In my opinion, horizon should be either perfectly level or at least 15-20 degrees off. That way you show that the effect was intended. Anything off by only few degrees might go as a "wonky horizon". Take care
