Yeah, I saw those yesterday....man, how I wish I had $1400 to grab that 70-200 f/2.8 IS. what a deal!

Maybe I can convince my wife to let me use some of our tax rebate to get the 70-200 f/4 IS. doubtful, since we're so broke. [:'(]

Don't mean to threadjack, but...is gray market really a bad choice? (70-200 2.8 IS @ $1169.95 but gray market at Adorama)

FWIW, Henry from B&H has informed me that Canon will actually accept warranty returns for gray market lenses. They've been doing it for years even though it's against the official policy and they could stop at any time. Not sure if that helps. :)

As the 70-200 f/2.8 IS is on my wishlist I had to go check this out. I knew it was too good to be true! The IS version is $1,649.95. The Non-IS version is $1,169.95 (Gray Market that is)

A "gray market" item is basically an identical item, but is not distributed and sold here by Canon USA. Retailers bought these lenses from let's say Canon Canada at a lower cost and sell them here in the States. Your warranty may not be honored by Canon USA should anything happen to your gray market item. That's my understanding of "gray market". [H]

Got one Canon L lens and 5D body from Adorama refurbished. Look and work like brand new. If you see a Canon refurb item with a fair price at Adorama, go for it!
