Thanks Stuart --- I have an incredibly unfair advantage, living out here. The scenery options are absolutely endless.

I agree with the unfair advantage. I'd like to propose that Jonathan be banned from participating in the landscape portion of these contests

Seriously though, absolutely unreal shot. Blows my mind.

Totally captivating Jonathan, is this only one exposure?

Thanks everyone - I definitely credit all of you for inspiring me with your great photos. I need to work hard to keep up with this group! And yes you're not likely to see a lighthouse photo anytime soon from me.

Steve -Yes this is one exposure. I used a 2-stop soft edge ND grad, and a 5-stop solid ND to give a 60-second exposure. In Lightroom I darkened the sky about another half stop to give it the balance I wanted.

Wow, definately some great entries so far this week! Here is one landscape and one portrait from me. Both taken on a recent trip to Boston.

Andrew didn't seem to mind that the Sox beat the Jays that day. Jay's Fan:

Okay, I can't compete with the awesome scenery some of you have experienced this week. I am going to put a picture of an abstract landscape painting. My wife and I were messing around with finger paint the boys didn't use for their painting. Why can't mom and dad have fun while not letting anything go to waste!

Great landscape entries from all over the world and Planet Abstract.
My selections are "Milky Way over Silver Lake" by conropl/Pat, and Andrew's "Happy Face" for the creativity.
I hope we see even more portrait entries next week.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Arnt. This must be the first time a non-portrait has won a portrait competition. I'm sure it will get eliminated in the monthly final, as it wouldn't be fair to the real portrait photographers among the community here.

Congratualtions to Pat for a great shot of the galaxy.

Great choices! Pat, getting a Milky Way shot and a sunset at the same time is just surreal. Love it.
