2014 Image of the Week #49

Welcome to TDP forum's "Image of the Week" competition. Each week photographers may submit their images to compete for the title of "Image of the Week." Weekly winners will then compete on a monthly, quarterly and finally in an annual poll for the title of "TDP Image of the Year."


There will be only one weekly winner.
This entry period for Week 49 will be from Monday December 1st through/including Sunday December 7th.
Please supply a title for your image.
This is an open competition for landscape, portrait, architectural, macro and any other appropriate photographic style.
Images should have been either recently taken or processed.
Enter as many times as you would like.


This week will be judged by Busted Knuckles.

Getting week 49 started, I toured a few of the mansions in Newport, RI over the weekend. Marble House and "The Breakers" were actually built by Vanderbilt brothers (Marble House was actually in the name of his wife, which became relevant when she divorced him: ;)). But the Vanderbilt's made their money controlling the trains in and out of New York City. In the top of the Breakers was a room with toy trains. Of course, the fall of the Vanderbilts (a peak of $300 billion net worth in today's dollars; Anderson Cooper of CNN is a descendent) is largely blamed on the lavish spending, income/estate taxes, and a shift in transportation away from trains.
