And Bryan's previews are up with contain some information and quotes from Chuck Westfall I hadn't seen elsewhere:

Apparently similar DR to the 5DIII. DRones will be crying. Bryan expects the pixel level noise to be similar to the 7DII, but that would only matter at 100% viewing. Viewed on a comparable output (8x10", 16x20," 1000x600 pixels ;) ) the higher resolution should lead to less noticeable noise. He also estimates file size at different ISO levels. I referred to this as a potential issue in data flow as why the ISO range my be limited. Using Bryan's estimates, 5 fps @ 50.6 MB/file = 253 MB/sec. Jump up to the 95 MB/sec in the expanded ISO 25,600 mode, 475 MB/sec. I could see that as limiting.

This may sound a bit odd, but I am most interested in hearing how this camera does with the following:

fps in crop modes
image quality (noise, DR, tone, etc) in MRAW (28 MP).

Depending upon those two variables, this could be a very nice primary body. I could see having this camera and typically shooting in MRaw to keep file size/processing time down. But I would want the IQ to be better than the 5DIII. Then, when needed, jump up to 50 MP. Or switch over to crop mode for faster fps (if it has faster fps).

I am wondering if the new electronic controlled mirror (not spring) is what is limiting it to 5 fps? I would expect to see it specified if it did and I do not see it anywhere.

Anyways....very interesting camera(s).

Bryan also has the promo videos;

Max burst of 14 for full size RAW, no added added burst if you use the crop feature.
No added FPS with the crop feature.
Other than file size the crop feature doesn't look to appealing.

Just looking at a similar table on Canon's website. Crop mode, at this point, seems pretty weak. Same file size as shooting FF? Max burst rate of 12-14 in either FF or crop mode?

From the same table mRAW file size is 44 MB. This may be an assumption for burst rate, but the two things I was looking for are quickly not panning out.

Still impressed with what I am seeing, but may not be for me....

A lot of news in one day. 5 bodies, (1 in development) and a new lens as well.

Is it me or does anyone else see the $8000 combo - 5DS/R for uber resolution and the 1Dx for the uber low light & fast action - there are now $300 apart?

So the continuum of options is kind of interesting from a product line perspective. No longer is there that multi thousand $ gap.

Hmmmm

$300 apart if you buy grey market.

Something is fishy with the 1Dx in my opinion. Price drops like we have seen lately may lead to a change in top camera leadership.

But a 1Dx with a 5Ds R would cover both ends of the spectrum. I doubt I would ask for much more.
