One more from my session for this week

"Mother and Son"

I just instructed her to give him a kiss to get his reaction on film. Worked perfectly.

I set up for this shot similar to a multi-flash system for hummingbirds. I used 2 Einstein monolights with soft boxes about 45 degrees to the left and right and about 6 feet from the branch. The lights were set in action mode and at -5.5f which creates a very short flash duration which has the effect of freezing motion and it also lets the background be very dark.

was it your intent to give him avocado in an avocado kitchen in avocado high chair? He might be having weird thoughts.

Some very cool images this week. Shames me that I haven't been out shooting (except for work) in months.

Sambisu almost stole the show at the last minute with his avocado kid pic, but I'm still going to go with Joel's two bird portraits. Can we call it a tie between Joel's two birds? I just think the planning and execution of the lighting setup for those shots was impressive. I love the black backgrounds.

Well done, Joel. Both are gallery worthy images.

Thanks for the shout out! Those bird shots really are great.

If you want a tie breaker vote for the bird portraits, my vote would be the first one. Both are excellent, but if I were purchasing a print of only one, it would be that.

Two great images and I appreciate selecting both. But, for the sake of the monthly runoff, can we have just one photo?

Ok, let's go with the Cardinal by a feather. Flawless lighting and a great pose.
