I've got an old Starblitz 2200BA minitwin flash and wanted to know if I could use it with my EOS 50D.
I googled a bit and found this site: http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html ("http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html)
According to this site, my flash is not safe for use with a Canon EOS camera since it's trigger voltage is 225V, while EOS cameras' max trigger voltage is about 6V.
So I'm certianly not going to mount it on my 50D's hot-shoe, but what if I mount it to something like this: Wein Safe-Sync Hot Shoe to Hot Shoe High Voltage Sync Regulator ("http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/245292-REG/Wein_W990560_Safe_Sync_Hot_Shoe_to.html#features)
Will it be safe? Would you do that?
Also, will it be safe to connect this old flash to the 50D using the PC connector instead of the hot-shoe, or that is not safe just like mounting the old flash to the hot-shoe mount?
