Taking several days to drive from Orlando to Traverse City. Leaving in a couple days, taking my time.

Ideas for stops? Don't mind a little detour. Will be a 3 week round trip

Hmmm...you being from Michigan, I assume you have that covered. Looking at a map, I would be most tempted by Great Smokey Mtns National Park. A good friend of mine has been several times and loves it. Ashville and Brevard, NC are also very nice....here are some pics (I think the appeal to me will be obvious)...

If your route takes you by Knoxville, TN, take a side trip to the Smoky Mountains National Park. Enter the Smoky Mountains National Park at Townsend, TN and travel the mountain roads to Gatlinburg with maybe a short side trip to Clingmans Dome, which is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at 6,643 feet.

Thanksbfor the suggestions. Wife pointed out i could fly with ff miles and the care rental was equal to gas to get there.. will be posting ahots of the northen 1/2 of the lower peninsula shorlty
