I want to find a deeper lens hood for my 24-105 since I am using it on a 50D body.Thelens ships with a EW-83H. Does anyone know which alternate hood would work?

The reason: I will be traveling to Costa Rica during the rainy season and will be outside photographing in the rain. I want as much protection/depth to help keep rain off the face of the lens.

For use on my 50D, I am using an EW-83J hood on my 24-105.It is specified for use with the EF-S 17-55 f2.8lens.

Works great, no vignetting, and looks better (it's longer) than the squarish looking and short EW-83H for this lens on the 50D.

I know this is slightly off topic, but does anyone know if the 24-105L hood works on the 16-35/2.8L version 1? I know tht it works on the 17-40, but the 16-35 is a bit wider. Thanks!

I will go find out right now!

it doesn't seem to want to fit, and I'm not going to force it [:)]

I borrowed a EW-83F which is the hood used on the 24-70 f2.8L. I get just a bit of the hood in the corners of the frame from 24mm up to about 28mm. The hood is nice and deep so it should provide good protection from rain.
