Hummingbirds and 580 EX ll
This is my first attempt at using a flash and capturing HBs.
C&C needed on technique....I didn't want to freeze the wings.
40D and 100-400 IS, flash w/Better Beamer, Shutter speed was 250, f14, ISO 400 on 2 females, ISO 640 on the male (red throat feathers or gorget).
Lots of PS to diminish "catch eye light".

Dang nice shots!
Was your flash set up like, beneath a feeder or something?

Oops...double post. Sorry.
Re: Hummingbirds and 580 EX ll
Thanks for compliment LS....I just wish this weather would clear and we (I'll assume your wx isn't any different) could have sun for some natural light captures. June, in the BOS area, only rec'd 26% of the possible sunlight available for the month w/a total, in my area of 23 days of precip....depressing!
Setup; actually, I shoot from our bedroom window (nice blind) w/the flash mounted on the camera. Approximately 25' to the garden I have prepared for HBs and Butterflies. I'm able to set the tripod and camera to the same approximate level of the feeder's height with garden and woods being my background.
