Hello.i own a CANON 40D with lens EF-S 17-85 IS USM .i have added a Mamuri filter lens and i am interesting to know about the quality of this filter, can any body tell me where i can find informations about the quality of this filter lens or just if its a good one, can be advisved to change it with something else that might be better . i ll apriciate any help, thank you
I have never used a mamuri filter ?, but I find Schneider B + W lens filters very good quality

I am of the house of no filter, but I've been told B+W is the only way to go.
I've never heard of Mamuri. But it can be a real compromise put a $20 piece of poor glass over your (multi) $1000 precision glass.
Shoot some controlled images with it on and off check the detail.
Might also want to see if it affects flare, lights at night or something, or maybe the sun near the corner of the frame. Just a thought. I like how the B+W 010 filters feel, and look, though I haven't done extensive shopping. A guy at a camera store convinced me to try a Roddenstock (sp?) filter, telling me it was better than the B+W, and I returned it the next day. It just didn't feel (physically) right. The way it fit into the threads wasn't very reassuring. Seemed maybe better built than the Tiffen, but not a B+W. I replaced it with a B+W MRC 010.
On the lenses that I've loaned out or given away, They've had Tiffen and Hoya filters. But I really like the B+W. I've never felt compromised, with the exception of vignetting on my 16-35 and 24-105 when they're wide. I feel that it would be a little less with no filter, but i'm just too paranoid to go naked [*-)]
