Dreadfully tedious memory card question I'm afraid
Hi guys.
I've always used Sandisk Ultra4gb memory cards on my Xsi (I've got 3)and they seem to be perfectly ok. I've finally usedtheUltra8gb card I purchased a while back and it seems to be incredibly slow. With the 4 gb it'll put a raw file on around 1 per second once thecameras buffer is fullbut the 8 gb card seems to only manage 1 file every 3 or 4 seconds. Quite a difference and really annoying when I'm using it.
Both say they are the same speed so why the difference?
Sorry this is such a dull query but any advice would be appreciated.

Scrap those cards and pick up a few 16gb Sandisk Extreme cards:

Good suggestion, except for the fact that they won't fit in his camera [:P]

But really, I have no clue. Have you contacted Sandisk about this?

They do make them in SD format though. So just be sure to get the right one[:)]

Wow I had no idea. I always assumed all Canon DSLRs used CF cards.

Any camera above the 50D (out of the current models) uses CF cards. It's okay. We all make mistakes. I for the one hand love CF cards because I find them just more satisfactory in terms of build quality and reliability, but on the other hand, SDHC cards so so cheap... It makes me sad.
But we can't all win.

<div>No biggie [:D] Untill the 400D they used CF cards, but since the 450D/1000D and newer consumer/starters-models they use SD cards, just so you know.</div>

<div>But my guess is that he just recently bought a new 8GB which doesn't function the way it should be. You could buy a new card to solve it, but I guess he wants the card he has to function properly [;)] My best bet is to contact Sandisk or the store you bought it and see if they can fix it for you with replacing it.</div>

I love the fact that my 40D and Rebet XT both take CF cards.
