FD to EOS adaptor, first pictures with bellows

I received the FD to EOS adaptor today, and had to try it (thanks again to Sheiky[:D]). I found that Fotodiox had placed a lens in it to allow infintity focusing, but I will not let a 30$ optics come between my FDn-primes and my 400D, so I removed it (this would have sounded better if I had a 7D instead of 400D, but still). I then managed to fit my 400D onto the bellows, and to the front, my 135mm 3.5. This allowed me to do some macro shots in the evening sun. I was surprised that manual focusing went that easy. And with the LCD, one can instantly check if the exposure is right. Anyway, here are my first shots, from one of my plants on the balcony (passiflora).


First, with the bellows retracted. f/3.5, 1/160, ISO 200

I am very pleased with the result so far. It was a bit windy, and the last shot had one second exposure time, but the shots are still fairly sharp (sharpening was set to 2 in DPP, and I have enhanced the colour saturation).


Now it is 5 days of vacation to play around with the other FDn lenses: 50mm 1.4 (my favourite), 24mm 2.8 (also very good). The latter is probably not suited for macro, since I have to be less than a few centimeters from the object and the shallow DOF makes focusing almost impossible. Perhaps I should look into the FD-market again to see if I can get a 85mm 1.8 (or 1.2). These are said to be of the best lenses Canon has ever made.
