Hi, today I was photographing a subject in manual mode (1/250 s, f/2.5, ISO 100) with a Canon XSi and EF 50mm f/1.8 lens, and noticed that when viewed 100%, the shot was somewhat blurry. I took the picture again but this time using a tripod, and the difference at 100% magnification was quite noticeable. Do you think it

The easy solution is to stop looking at 100% crops.
Otherwise use a tripod.

I agree that with the others that 1/250 sec can still produce blurry images. Usually, 1/320 is about the point where you can achieve sharp images with a slight bit of camera movement (assuming, of course, that you do have steady hands, hold the camera correctly, don't move it when you press the shutter, and your subject isn't moving). Steady on your feet also is important. No rocking back and forth. [:D]
If you can crank up the ISO, that will help get a faster shutter speed.
