Re: FAST SHARP CANON LENSES
I can't give an opinion of the 200mm f/2L IS based on real world use. [:(] But someday, I hope to use that lens!
I'll give props to the 70-200mm f/2.8<span style="color: #ff0000;"]L IS II, though. I really like that lens. AF is extremely fast, it's sharp wide open and improves onlyinfinitessimally when stopped down. At 200mm f/2.8, it's sharper than the 200mm f/2.8L II prime, and wide open at 135mm it's as sharp or sharper than the 135mm f/2L wide open (although the prime has anedge when stopped down to f/2.8). I love my 135mm f/2<span style="color: #ff0000;"]L, but I use it when I really need f/2, else I grab the 70-200mm f/2.8<span style="color: #ff0000;"]L IS II.
Re: FAST SHARP CANON LENSES
Thank you,
I also vote 135 f2 as my personally voted sharpest lens
I only drool over the 200 f 2 but also would not want to be limited to that length
I also state my 70-200 2.8 and even my older 70-200 f4 are really sharp ( and versitle)
dont have any experience with anything wider, I use my 24-70 2.8 for most of my wedding photos,
For my weddings I walk around with the 24-70 and 70-200 most of the day
but was interested in one of the primes
24 35 50 or 85,
I understand they lack sharpness wide open and are slow, especially the 85 1.2
How about something sharp wider than 24?
Re: FAST SHARP CANON LENSES
Your thread states "Canon" lens, I have used the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 and rate it very high. Performance is very close to the TSE 24, but the Zeiss wins hands down on usability and is fast at 2.8. But it

I think the original poster, iND, was only talking about fast autofocus, not fast aperture. (Though it

I have owned all of these primes at one time or another although I haven't used the 24mkII. My experience was with the 24mkI.
The 85 1.2 is sharp at 1.2 you just have to do everything right. Servo can be a great help getting more keepers.
That said; The 35 1.4 has the fastest and second most accurate AF with the 50 1.2 running a close behind. In low, low light the 50 1.2 will search a bit. The 35 is probably the best I've owned for really low light.
The 85 is the most accurate but definitely the slowest.
The 24 1.4 mkI AF was a little slower than the 35 but due the lens' lack of sharpness it hard to say how accurate it is. I am dying to get the 24 mkII.
Re: FAST SHARP CANON LENSES
Not considered as wide as you are looking at, but the 100mm f/2.8 <span style="background-color: #ffffff;"]<span style="color: #ff0000;"]L Macro is definetly sharp and fast. Sharpest lens I own, but I may bemore lens limited than others here[:(]
