When using Canon's DPP RAW Converter what is the best setting for the "Output resolution" in terms of dpi when creating a jpeg?

I don't think the dpi really matters, because it's only data that indicates how many pixels per inch (it should be ppi), which relates to physical size. I suppose, if you want to print it, it should be some integer multiple of the printing dpi, but you can change that property later as well, without actually changing the image data itself, I would think.
That is true. But it also depends on what you are going to do with the converted JPEG. When I convert an image for web display I set the dpi to 72. Some prefer 96. Other than that I leave it on 300. It is determines the quality of a print and can be changed later as mentioned.
