the birds in florida are very camera friendly. 200mm was actually to much for this one , had to back it down to 150mm

Mark, those look like some chilly birds. They'd be ice cubes if they were out on a limb here tonight.
Stuart, lovely egret!
It's bitterly cold here too and the small birds are flocking to the feeders....I took these on my lunch break today.

Nice Eagle and Osprey.....I always love the raptors:)
This very unusual bird showed up today in my backyard setup. I believe it to be a female Northern Cardinal with some type of genetic variation. Perhaps partially leucistic or albino. I have never seen anything like it. If anyone knows for sure what it is please tell me:)

I think you had it right.
Go to this website, it discusses a variation just like you pictured.

This is an older picture.
Thought I would give it a try in LR5 to see if it would come out better.
Does it look a bit to cool, need to be warmed a bit?

Joel, if you didn't post pictures of your setup in the past, I would assume you were shooting professionally prepared taxidermy in front of a backdrop in a studio. I just got around to setting feeders up at my new house. Maybe I will start shooting birds again.

Beautiful Pat. The falling snow makes it so nice.
Thanks Joel. It was a beautiful day today. The snow with light winds was so nice (compared to the last few days). Wind finally stopped today and we finally got dug out.
It is pretty cold now, so the birds don't mind if I set up a tripod and camera 15 feet from the feeder and stand there without a blind. Give them a couple of minutes and they are all around me - until a hawk showed up and then they all took off. A little later in the day the little birds were eating (although a little skittish) when there was a hawk planted in a branch above them. There was even a Cardinal sitting in the same tree about 5 feet away from the hawk. When it gets cold they seem to be more worried about eating food rather than whether they are going to be food.
Another image from the weekend.....it had stopped snowing but the snow on the ground acts like a reflector so the birds tend to have a natural "glow"
