Three from the World War II reenactment on 9/22 in Rockford, IL using 6D and 70-200 f/4 L USM. I thought B&W was appropriate for the occasion!

Fantastic images here, thanks for sharing Brant, JRW, David, Dave and erno.
Great images in this thread, you people inspired me to try my hand at bw conversion. Here is a landscape from my recent Lapland trip that I quite like in bw. The morning mist adds a nice feel to the trees. Processed using Lightroom and Nik Silver Effects Pro.

qwRad,
Great shot!

You all have inspired me to look for more ways to use B&W. I went through a set of shots taken a couple of weeks ago with the intent of converting some of them. Here are a few:

I always like the way you process the sky and clouds in you B&W's.

Thanks Pat! I really like B&W photography.

Very nice Denise, I like the gradients from black in the center to white on the periphery:)
Nice job David, but Kaleb needs to lose the 5D3 strap! I think it'd make him a theft target.
Here's a couple of my B&Ws of vintage scenes, taken with the Zuiko 28 f/3.5.

Here is a shot from the Desert View end of the Grand Canyon. There were some fires in California and one on the North Rim causing the canyon to be relatively smoke filled.....

During a walk through the mall looking for some shorts yesterday, I came across a store having a canvas sale. I was amazed at some of the black and white work and it inspired me to see what some of my nature closeups would look like in BW. Here is what I came up with. I definitely don't take enough time to look at things in BW and I think that might change.

Location is Derwent Reservoir, Derbyshire, famous as the training location for the dam buster squadron before their raid on the Rhur Valley Dams in 1943
Haydn, your picture brings back childhood memories of visits to the Derwent Valley. I grew up in Nottingham so the Peak District was a favourite weekend destination for the family.
B&W isn't my usual style, but you've inspired me to convert this shot of Connel Bridge.

I couldn't post more than a few pictures lately, mainly because the weather has been so bad that's it was even difficult to go out for a short walk. In my region, we had up to 2.5 times the average amount of rain in July. In fact, the only thing that avoided terrible floods in the Alps was that it was cold enough for a lot of this rain to fall as snow on the top of the mountains.
Fortunately, we had a little break on the national Day, the 1st of August, with a somewhat clear weather. Well, at least it didn't rain for most of the day. I took advantage of this to go for a hike to see one of the famous "cabanes" (little cabins in the mountains for alpinists and climbers to spend the night before going higher the next day) in Switzerland, the "cabane d'Orny". Being usually built in very spectacular places, these cabins have become a goal on their own for a lot of less skilled people like me. For most of the day we were literally covered in fog, but we had a few moments when we could see a bit farther.
This mountain, the "Petit clocher du Portalet", is known as a little climber's paradise, as you can imagine from the picture. It emerged from the fog for about 2 minutes before disappearing again. I decided to convert the picture to B&W.

Tounis - Thanks for the effort and for sharing with use. The mist coming off the peak is a great catch and converting to B&W was a good choice.

Pierre, that is a stunning picture. I think BW conversion is perfect for this one. Glad to hear that you are able to get out and enjoy the sun!
The color version works nicely too, but I like the black and white.
