Thanks.....they're my favorite local birds
This female Cardinal image of yours is superb....love the mossy perch, the pose is great and detail is spot on.

This guy was chasing another Red Bellied WP back and forth across the yard for several minutes before he perched for this image....his raised crest is a sign he was still quite upset....a turf war I suppose. The final result was better than I expected because it was very low light.

What a beauty...rarely seen in my area and only during migration. Nice shot.
Thank you, Joel. I wish they did stick around longer!
I took this shot out my bedroom window this morning ...

Though you have to get up stupid early in the summer and the number of birds are greatly reduced. Sometimes, just sometimes it works out. There are a couple of others from the effort on flickr but this is the one I really like.

I always expect marvels from Stuart and Joel. Great to see the wonderful shots from the last 3 photographers as well!
Those are really great portraits and I a especially love the raptors. Probably because I have so few images of them. In the wild they are almost impossible to approach (at least where I live) so I really love to see a close up detailed image of one.
I have concentrated on birds mostly because they have fascinated me since childhood and I live in an area with a good variety of field and woodland birds. My job and helping care for my elderly mother-in-law who is stricken with dementia prohibit me from much travel in pursuit of photography so I use my yard and a setup. Make the most of what you've got right?
I do have some bucket list bird locations. The top two are Alaska for Eagles and Ecuador for Hummingbirds.... maybe someday.
Actually there is supposed to a raptor display nearby this coming weekend so I am going to go see what they have and maybe try to get some images.

Another image of one of the Northern Flickers visiting my feeders lately.....I have seen 2 pairs in the last 3 weeks or so. I see them around this area frequently but they have avoided my set up except during extreme winter. Not sure why they have become more friendly but they are probably the most striking woodpecker we have in terms of color and pattern.

Looks like National Geographic, nice work Joel. The Northern Flicker from last week was very good, this week's is even better. Makes me want to take the rest of day off and head into the woods for a few hours before sunset.....
Thanks for the nice comments:)

I went on a trip to Costa Rica last month. Lots of birds down there! These were taken with my 70-300L and 5DS. Would have loved to have something something longer or faster (or both).

Looks like the crisp air led to crisp photos! I especially enjoyed the first.
Nice shots....love Eagles....that trip to Haines may be tops on my bucket list :)
Thanks guys, it was fun. The Mississippi is about 2 hours away from me. My birthday was last Monday so we took it, had some really good Italian for lunch and then went to the lock and dam area.

More eagles! My wife, father in law, and I have been on an eagle kick.
