Great image Mike, wall or contest worthy for sure!

Agreed. Great shot.
300mm isn't enough. Heavily cropped.

This Anhinga posed while walking around the Circle B Bar Reserve. My favorite trail, Alligator Alley, was closed due to too many, umm, Alligators. So I did a different loop.

Bucket list bird for me and a rarity in south central Kentucky .....
http://joeleadephotography.zenfolio....70580713-4.jpg
Due to the position of the bird and the road I could get no closer than about 70-80 yards....I was excited to see it and get a few frames.
I was notified by a friend that he had seen a large white owl and he gave me the location. Apparently its been near the same area for several days now.
Maybe it will hang around and I will be able to get closer for better detail
Get this .... its hanging around a farm on Owl Creek Road .... its true !!!!!

Joel, great shot! I never have viewed on in real life until this year. They are truly beautiful. Can't wait to see what you get when you get a little closer. There have been some killer owl shots on this site this year and I am more and more jealous every time.
Fun at the end of my dock this morning. Typically I have to drive further.... Out of the camera, no fiddling.

Mallard Pose
I like this one with both the male/female looking the same direction in the good light. Sorry so many duck pictures, I'm enjoying the new rig and the lagoon has very friendly ones that make great shots. It's a lot of fun.

Finally, but was heavy overcast, at least he is not sitting in a bowl of seeds. I will get one shortly in the sunshine, but this will have to do for now.

I really enjoy capturing the ruby throated hummingbirds with a slow shutter speed and a long lens to highlight their wing speed; 500 f4 with 1.4x, f6.3, 1/160th, ISO 640

I enjoyed both, but especially the first. The bird could use that in her modeling portfolio!
Here is one I took while on a short walk through the woods this spring. I believe it is a Willow Flycatcher.

Really really nice!!!
So, I tried my 2x TC on the 500 f/4 II. The AF has issues (lots of hunting)...but when locked on...I am not complaining....

Excellent detail as expected!! Pre-focusing and setting the focus limiting switch both help tremendously if you are working within a known distance. You can prevent the system from extreme searching. The results are worth it....great images at 1000mm.
Nice Brant! Looks like you're having fun with the new lens!
Here is one from me:

Here is a different sort of bird shot:
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4855/...62cfabb7_b.jpgSpot the Puffin by Stephen, on Flickr
Can anyone spot the puffin hiding amongst the Common Murres?
Stephen
I finally found him too ... tougher than "Where's Waldo?"
Thanks for looking! Glad some people are enjoying the search. I wonder if we all see the same puffin...I suspect there are more than one, but may not have the distinctive beak/feet visible (but I know one does anyway). Personally I wish I had stopped down a bit to improve depth of field / sharpness as some of the birds are a bit blurry. But I was trying to keep the iso lower but the shutter speed high since I was on a wildly pitching boat (one of the kids got seasick actually).
