Thank you so much for all of your kind prayers, well wishes and kind words! EmmaLee came home from the hospital today and is doing better. Looks like it is going to be an ongoing health problem that will need to be continuously treated and monitored very closely. She also has a machine at home now to help her breathe.
Thank you for helping me get through my meltdown!
Now lets get this thread back on track ...
ssvs04 - very nice photo and your wife is very pretty but I don't think the wife was too happy about you taking her photo when she was trying to relax and party!? Looks like she's going to kick your butt if you don't get the camera out of her face! [;)]

Well im 240 pounds and she is 99 pounds and she scares me when she is mad:) I prefer to take pics of people when they dont expect it. And that bugs her sometimes.
This one she looks much happier.

I am not much of a people shooter, but I did manage to grab this portrait yesterday.
Canon 7d, 100-400L, 580exII Flash and a Better Beamer. This guy played with me for about 15 minutes, bouncing back and forthand hiding between two poles in his habitat, but finally he just sat down and gave me this wonderful pose.

Wow! That is fantastically sharp!

Nice! Really captures a winter feel. I say that while sitting by the pool, enjoying 84 degree weather.... ;-)
Haha jealousy all around. It was 32deg the other morning when I woke up. Winter's coming early up here in Indiana [:|]

Fall is here...a great time for outdoor portraits in New England! I took the opportunity to try out the 70-200 II on my new 5DII for portraits...

Rob, like your shots very much, beautiful lighting and sharpness, the second one is my favorite one!, the 85mm1.8 is really an amazing lens!
John, congrats on your new 5DII, I just love the beautiful color it can produce. nice shot of your lovely daughter!
Rob, great saturation and crispness on those shots! Did you use a CPL for them? Mind sharing your EXIF?
John and Denise: great ideas and very cute photos!
Denise;
Great timing on the second shot! Looks like she is floating off the ground. Very cute!
Stephen
Thanks! All ya have to do is ask her what a kangaroo does & she'll be happy to show you!
John - Beautiful fall portrait of your daughter! I hope you have this one hanging on the wall!
Rob -Nice portraits of the author/musician/editor! VERY nice lookin' subject ...I mean composition! [;)]

I took a quick couple of shots of Amber yesterday, and they seemed to turn out well. I was testing my recent acquisition--a 22" Paul C. Buff High-Output Beauty Dish (HOBD). I used a B&W Circular Polarizer to bring out the sky. EXIF, setup, and strobist info available in the click-through on last two.

Fantastic (as usual), Sean! Your set-up is amazing!
Denise
Thanks Denise. I'm still unsure how exactly I'll be using the beauty dish most. This weekend I shot a Sweet 16 birthday party, and I had a corner set up with a large softbox and the beauty dish with diffusion sock attached for personalized messages to the birthday girl. The steup turned the beauty dish into a round 22" softbox, basically.

It worked decently well (lighting-wise, that is...grammar aside), but I think I actually like the contrast brought on by using the dish undiffused.
@Deltasun: EXIF data and lighting setup posted as per your request

Please re-read my EXIF and description - a Hoya CPL was used for the outdoor shots.

Wonderful shots! The first two are outstanding. Thanks for reminding us what a Plastic Fantastic 50mm lens can do in capable hands!

thanks everyone! As far as post processing goes, The first one all I did was increase the warm slider in lightroom +5 and pulled out some of the red,(it was overbearing,) and slid the lens vignetting down to -13, natural lighting, no flash.(both girls eyes really are that blue) and did just about the same with the seconded one, but on that one I bumped up the overall contrast, and black saturation +2 and +3. And for those of you are familiar with lightroom, I used black and white Cream-tone filter for the 3rd one.

Awesome shot Jan!
Love the hair and makeup, and backlighting too!

Thanks a lot [:D] It was the first shot ever which I did with a ringflash and a 430EX flash as a backlight with a red colorfilter on it. The ringflash made the original kind of dull, but with some post processing I'm pretty satisfied of the results.
Again thanks [:D]
