Nice. I like the B&W, it looks good here.
One suggestion if I could....bump up the ISO to 800 or so (5D does have really good low-noise at higher ISOs right?) to shorten your Tv for less motion blur.
My two cents...

A headshot on FF with a 35mm lens means the camera is very close to the subject - if the image is not cropped, the camera was ~18" from the subject, and that distance at f/1.4 it means the DoF is only ~0.5" thick. So the cheek is in focus (some skin features are visible, which I'd think would be gone with motion blur), but the(mostly obscured)eye is out of focus because it's outside the DoF. The general rule is to place focus priority on the eyes.
my mistake. thanks.
The ISO 50 was a very good point, though. To me, it doesn't make sense to use the L setting with a flash...

just curious: why is there so much data associated with that particular photo? I

I really like my 50 f1.4 but since I shoot full frame I would probably get the 85 f1.8 if I were doing it again. I plan on the 135 f2 as my next prime but that will probably be a while.

[:$] I'm a still wet behind the ears 35 year old sorry for the assumption :( Great shot and utilization of lens! i highly recommend the 135mm f/2 it is awesome!

Americo,
From my understanding, increasing the ISO increases how sensitive the sensor is to incoming light (the higher the ISO, the higher the sensitivity).
Increasing ISO allows for faster shutter speeds (if no other parameters change, that is).
I'm sure you will receive more technical explanations on this... [:D]
The post of the same photo is much like the first. The DOP is very shallow. Her cheek and the few strands of hair falling across it are sharp but her lips and side of her head are not within the in-focus range. Try stopping your aperture down to f/2.0 or 2.8 and bump your ISO to 200 or 400...see what happens.
@ DLS
These parts I understand, but I also understand that this also increases the noise factor, hence my use of the 50iso. i should lower the pwer to my flash as much as possible or use those diffusers, but i am still learning, and still a bit 1300 poorer thanks to this lens!
Holiday humor below for your viewing.

Regarding ISO and flash, generally an ISO of 200 or 400 is preferable because it reduces the amount of flash power needed, or increases the distance at which the flash is effective, depending on how you want to phrase it. The Vivitar 285HV is a fairly powerful flash (almost exactly the same power as a 430EX II). For these shots, though, ISO 50 is not a real problem since you're close to the subject.
Americo, can we please keep this thread moderately on-topic by posting portraits and not lamps and cookies from Starbucks? Thanks!

Nice work Denise. Nice and even. Like you back-drop. Is that an after-market sheet or your own?

In answer to your question, no it does not do ETTL but I don't mind and for the price they are worth it. Mine haven't let me down yet.

I use the MicroSync system. It works well with my Vivitar 285's and my Sunpak 120J's but does not work with my 580EX's. I do not have a need to fire the 580's unless I can do it with ETTL. Someday I'll try Pocket wizard.
thank
Mark
Yeah, me too ...Pocket Wizards or something of the sort is on my long list.
When I first posted this photo, a couple people were correct in saying that it needed to be softened some. Well, today someone from this site sent me a copy of his revised version and I just wanted to show off the superb job he did on it!! Thanks Much!!!

Mark
Sorry, it was almost midnight and I was being lazy. If you click on the photos you can see more detailed info in flickr but all were shot with a 7D and 24-105mm lens.

This was shot in a banquet room of a hotel for a wedding reception. These two cute girls were great to take photos of all day!
They both just laid down and watched people on the dance floor... I got in front of them and snapped this one.

I do not shoot studio shots very often. This is my first time using 4 lights. PP in PSE. Let me know what you think. What can i do to improve? C&C.

Wow this is great!! I love the subtle rim and hair light on the couple, and how all your subjects are equally exposed! Very soft!
That being said, I feel myself wanting to push the frame over to the left a bit. The man
