Ham...love the street shot. Nice lighting.... EDIT...Denise...great shot!
Ok, I am taking a break from all this new computer stuff to process some photos I took yesterday...but, of course, that just reminds me why I want a new computer. Kayaking yesterday we saw a near complete society of Loons. We saw two loons fishing and bringing little fish back to their chick. They would pop up out of the water and call the chick over to them. We saw two chick loons hanging out in the shadows with no adults in sight (latch key loons?), and we saw a single adult loon with a single chick.
on to the pics

Nice work Brant, love the beads of water in the second shot.
Ahh true love Denise.
Nice filtered light Ham.

Grass, grey skies and soft light never looked better, nice composition, great focus, good job.
Yeah I really like that. Whilst long grass is always a summery image, especially with the sun shining through it, that grey sky gives it a slightly more ominous feel. A storms brewing, but you

I wanted a general purpose camera/video camera for my cheapy desk microscope at work and didn't want to break the bank. I got a t3i with a custom microscope adapter. Not a bad little camera. I only wish that I could figure out how to get live video on my computer through the Canon software. Does anyone know if that's possible?

Wish me luck.

Good luck Steve. I hope you raise lots of money for those good causes.
Last weekend the local Jaguar Enthusiasts Club held their annual gathering. I don't think I've seen so much polished chrome before. It was tricky to avoid photographing my own reflection.

Nice shots, Steve but I must say ...my taste in street attire is alittle more conservative! This makes my fringed leather halter & cut-off jean shorts I used to wear to CW concerts look reserved!
Nice shot Denise
Thank you! I
Nice processing on the lake shot Denise.
Cut-off shorts heh, many young people think they were only just invented.
I'm confused right now? I don't know if I'm an old person or a young one....[*-)]
Steve...I was scrolling through photos over the weekend and my wife saw your first one and exclaim something like"who took that? It is amazing!" She loved the way the colors blended from the bassist to the sky. And to get my thoughts it, it is a great shot. Excellent work Denise and Jonathon as well. Great stuff in this thread, as is usual.
So, it seems that there is a great debate about mountains in a surfing thread [:^)] [:D]. Classic west coast vs east coast. I had family visiting last week and one of the things we did was use the Cog Railway to take us to the summit of Mount Washington (highest point in the Northeast). The cog climbs from its base of ~2,700 ft to the summit of Mt. Washington (6,288 ft) in approximately 3 miles.

So, Mt. Washington has hiking trails, an auto road and the cog as ways to get to the summit. Current at the summit is a museam, weather station, small cafeteria, etc. According to our Cog guide, there used to be luxury hotels, and even a air force test facility.

Very nice captures Brant, good argument for your side of the country.[Y]
A bit more scenery from me from the weekend. Sean gave me a sample ID photo template that I attached to my camera strap. Don't know if it helped or not in the long run, because the people were so friendly and wanted to pose for you.

+1 on what Wally says Ham, but I imagine the spirit of the place has changed dramatically in the last week or so, our thoughts are with those over there experiencing some frightening times in the Olympic city.
Nice shots Wally, really like the two of a kind shot, bit of problem solving going on there. And that brave last action shot, leaping into the unknown, nice.

Thanks Wally, and Steve.
Things were strange here for a while (I live in Birmingham, from London, but love Manchester United), but everything seems to have calmed down. In fact the High Streets and City Centres are booming at the moment, people are keen to help the businesses that lost stuff (especially the indie ones). You wouldn

Looks like a lot of fun! Did you make one of these?
Went out with the 60D on Friday and headed off to an area of town I only normally see from my bus on the way home from work. The images may make it look like a brave place to take a new and expensive toy, but it's fine. The area's called Digbeth (Birmingham) and surrounds the old Bird's Custard Factory that has since been used or disused for various things including a high-end department store/nightclub venue and, as the pictures show, graffiti canvas.
This garage is position under one of the old railway arches, and despite appearances there was some good chaps working in there when I walked past.
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6210/...67187eb0_b.jpg
This wall formed part of the external surroundings of the factory itself, it's begging to have a cool portrait taken up against it, but I was on my own, and don't know many cool people who would come at 2pm on a Friday to pose for a picture just to satisfy me :D
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6184/...646fa90f_b.jpg
And this is further down the same wall, obviously used to be a minor entrance to part of the factory.
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6087/...17fffe4c_b.jpg
The only thing is, I think all these images could do with more processing / photoshop work. Could anyone point me towards any photoshop techniques I should be looking at trying/learning?
Shot this pic doing sight seeing and shooting around Melbourne. Bit of a dare devil...LOL
